Half day or full day

How much time do you need for a Logroño winery tour starting from the city?

Quick answer: from Logroño, half a day is enough. In around four hours you can visit one or two wineries in Navarrete, Fuenmayor or on the outskirts of the city, with no more than 20 minutes on the road per leg. It’s the ideal format if you arrive by train or plane and only have one free afternoon.

Logroño has an advantage that Haro and Laguardia don’t: the wineries begin almost where the city ends. That allows very compact plans, along the lines of “a visit in the morning and a vermouth in the centre at midday”, or linking a city-centre visit with another among the vineyards without losing the afternoon to travel. For that kind of flexible service, many clients book our hourly chauffeur in Logroño directly.

A city-centre winery on foot or a winery on the outskirts?

Within the city there are historic wine houses and calados (underground cellars) you can walk to from the old town; outside, in Navarrete or Fuenmayor, the facilities are larger and the vineyards are right in front of you. The combination that works best is one of each: you start on foot in the morning and we pick you up for the second visit. If you’re still deciding where to taste, our guide to wine tasting in Logroño compares both options.

Which car should you choose for the tour?

  • Rioja Standard: MG or Toyota, the most affordable option for couples or small groups who just want to get there and back in comfort.
  • Rioja Executive: premium electric cars (Mercedes EQ, Tesla Model Y and Model 3) with water and WiFi on board, designed for corporate clients or a special occasion.
  • Rioja Group: a 7-seat van for groups, with room for the cases you buy in the winery shop.

Can you book on the same day?

Sometimes, yes: because the routes are short, an afternoon tour in Logroño can be arranged at a few hours’ notice if a car is free and the winery has space. Even so, ideally let us know 24 hours ahead, especially in September during the San Mateo festival, when the city fills up.

Arriving by train and heading straight to the wineries

If you arrive at Logroño station, we can meet you on the platform with a name sign and take you to your first visit with your suitcase in the boot; when you’ve finished, we drop you at your hotel. We explain it on our Logroño train station transfer page. And if you’d like to see the city after the wineries, there’s plenty to discover in a day, with Calle Laurel as the essential finale.
